Not that you would have heard it from the liberal media or the Democratic blogosphere but there are some exiting things happening in the state Senate. It may offer too much for those working within the system, but for the rest of us it is an expression of common sense.
Indexing Wisconsin’s Minimum Wage – Increases
the state’s minimum wage from $6.50 to $7.25 and indexes it to inflation.America Jobs Act – Requires contractual goods and services to State government be purchased from firms locally, within the state, or within the U.S., wherever possible.
Wage Protection Act – Put workers at the front of the line when back wages are owed after a plant closing.
Malinda’s Law – Makes employees of sales crews regular employees and not independent contractors.
Tax Exempt Unemployment Benefits – Current law allows for a partial exemption from taxation for unemployment compensation benefits. SCFL
